The special kind of peeling

Do you also suffer from ingrown hairs (hair under the skin) and have already used a number of delicately scented scrubs or scratchy gloves but still haven’t had any success? Then you will certainly enjoy the following lines for a simple and inexpensive solution.

What causes ingrown hairs?

Experience has shown that it makes no difference which form of hair removal is chosen. Ingrown hairs can occur with any manual hair removal method. It has much more to do with the condition of your skin and how you care for it. However, we would like to reiterate an example already mentioned under Hair & Hair Growth “You have previously removed your hair with wax or sugar gel”. If a skin reaction occurs within approx. 7 to 10 days (spring to fall) or within approx. 10 to 14 days (fall to spring), this is because your body hair is growing back.
Some people experience a slight itching sensation on the skin during this process, as the body hair finds it very difficult to make its way to the surface of the skin. This is because their hair has already become finer as a result of the first root depilation. In addition, the pores of her skin are slightly keratinized (dead skin cells), contain debris and could contract somewhat due to the “missing” placeholders (her hair). Ingrown hairs can occur more frequently in the months from December to March. Unlike in the warmer months, our skin receives less air as we wrap ourselves in thick, tight-fitting clothing due to the winter cold and, in addition, the constant heating indoors often leaves our skin very dry (lots of dead skin cells) and therefore impermeable. In summer, however, our skin enjoys plenty of air and sunlight. Bathing in the lake or sea softens the skin and increased sweating due to the summer heat opens the pores and makes our skin soft and elastic. Surely you have already experienced how plump and soft your skin feels after a week’s vacation in a humid tropical climate?

Our Peel Silk (Kese) is designed to fulfill precisely this criterion. It is woven from 100% natural birch viscose. This structure ensures that the skin is only rubbed and not scratched. We have also taken the liberty of incorporating an elastic band into the design for a good fit on the wrist and an inner loop for hanging.
This means that annoying slipping off your wrist during the peeling process or a peeling glove lying in the corner and becoming moldy is not an issue for you. There are equivalent but also inferior products of these Kese gloves on the market. They are not visible at first glance. But mostly the difference is that many producers mix natural fibers with plastic in order to achieve cheaper production. Experience has shown that purely natural peeling gloves are more lasting, more effective and also more pleasant on the skin. We offer a total of 3 different strengths (Soft, Regular and Strong). Soft is intended for more sensitive and hairless areas or for the face. Regular and Strong are suitable for all skin types. If you have stronger hair growth or more robust skin, we recommend Strong. You can find a short visual guide to successful exfoliation here.

If you have previously removed your hair using a root depilation method, you should exfoliate with a Peel Silk within approx. 7 to 10 days (spring to fall) and within approx. 10 to 14 days (fall to spring) after depilation. If you repeat this process every week thereafter, you will help your hair to come out into the open, no matter what growth phase it is currently in. This is the secret to getting rid of ingrown hairs and preventing them from growing in. From our own experience, regular peeling of the affected areas in this way improves the appearance of the skin enormously in the long term. Especially if small dark or light spots and small scars have already formed on your skin due to ingrown hairs. Just make sure that you perform the last peeling 7 days before your depilation appointment. Otherwise, your skin may feel a little oversensitive during depilation. You also get an even more beautiful depilation result by exfoliating beforehand.

What I need to consider for effective exfoliation

To ensure that a peeling against ingrown hairs really works, no products containing oil should be applied to the skin during the peeling process. Avoid using moisturizing skin lotions, soaps and shower or hair products the day before. Even a nourishing hair pack running down your back can prevent effective exfoliation. In addition, the skin must be heavily softened to ensure that the dry skin flakes are rubbed off.

Where can I do my peeling

There are two ways in which you can successfully exfoliate at home in an affordable and relaxed manner. Under the running shower or in the bath. However, we recommend that you take a warm to hot bath for 30 minutes. Because a 30-minute shower is usually not that relaxing. If you don’t have a bathtub, you can simply sit in the shower and give yourself a manicure or pedicure in the meantime to combat any boredom that may arise.

Please don’t be put off your nourishing bath or shower session because you think 30 minutes is half an eternity or because you don’t really like hot baths. Just imagine that you are now sitting on the train or on the couch. Because all these things, such as talking on the phone, watching TV or reading, can be done just as well in the bath. And a bath or shower doesn’t have to be hot. Especially in summer, a lukewarm bath can be totally refreshing and give you an incredibly relaxing sleep because it cools the whole body down. If you would like to enjoy the nourishing peeling experience in a more exclusive way with your loved one or all to yourself, we recommend a relaxing trip to the hammam, brine bath or a romantic spa.

This is how easy the effective peeling works

Please ensure that you do not use any moisturizing body and hair care products the day before the peeling. You should also not use any moisturizing bath additives for the peeling process. An exception to this is pure salt from the Dead Sea. This can even promote the softening of the skin.

  • Sit in your bathtub filled only with water for 30 minutes
  • After 30 minutes, please carry out a scratch test using your finger on your arm. If small skin sausages form as a result, then your skin is ready. If this is not yet the case, give your skin a few more minutes for the softening process. These sausages look something like the crumbs that the eraser leaves behind when erasing.
  • When your skin is ready, start rubbing your arms and legs with the Peel Silk in straight strokes with a back and forth motion and medium pressure. Circular movements are not necessary and are also less efficient.
  • Once you have exfoliated your arms and lower legs as well as your neck, shoulders and chest, you can sit or stand up. If you wish, you can now skip the bath water.
  • Continue in the same way with the remaining areas of your body. The bathtub should now be full of the little skin sausages. This is all the dry skin that was on her body.
  • Now take a shower to completely rinse off all skin residue. You can also use your exfoliating glove in a gentle way.
  • Finally, we recommend that you apply a good moisturizing lotion to your skin. Your skin is now well supplied with blood and free of any impurities, making it extremely receptive.

Important: If no dry skin flakes (skin sausages) come off during the peeling process and areas of the body with ingrown hairs are also very red and suddenly feel overly sensitive, then you have either soaked your skin too little or the highly moisturizing skin care from the previous day makes it impossible to successfully rub off your dry skin flakes.

So your exfoliating glove will last a long time

You will find detailed care instructions on the inside of the cuffs, which our manufacturer recommends. You can wash your exfoliating glove (Kese) in the washing machine at 60%. Fabric softener and the use of tumble dryers should be avoided at all costs. Fabric softener takes away the effectiveness of the Kese and the fabric shrinks and seams can come undone due to frequent tumbling. We have tried every possible care option and recommend that you simply rinse your exfoliating glove with very hot water after use and then hang it up to dry. This means that your exfoliating glove will last far longer than the usual 12 months
