What to consider before your hair removal appointment with sugar gel for the various hair removal methods

Have you been shaving until now?

For optimum results, we recommend that you stop shaving at least 2 weeks before your treatment from spring to fall. This also applies if you experience rapid hair growth. If your hair growth is rather slow or you decide to depilate with sugar gel during the winter, you can even expect 2 to 3 weeks. This is because the individual hairs should be at least 5 millimeters long.

You can read more about this under “Hair and hair growth” under “Growth phases and their function”. If you suffer from ingrown hairs (hair under the skin), we recommend an effective yet extremely gentle peeling with our all-natural Peel Silk, specially produced in Turkey, to remove dead skin cells. The last peeling of this type should be carried out no less than 7 days before your depilation appointment so that you can achieve the greatest possible effect for yourself. Get all the tips you need to prevent ingrown hairs at ingrown hairs. Please do not use any moisturizing or oily bath products, shower gels or body lotions 24 hours before your depilation appointment. Because not only do we want to get a good grip on your unwanted hair, we also want to gently remove all your dead skin cells with our specially produced sugar gel from “Grandma’s Sugar”.

You have previously epilated with a home appliance

Experience has shown that the use of home appliances often leads to ingrown hairs. The hair is inherently flexible. This means that if you gently pull on it with your fingers, a hair will give way. However, the rather ungentle rigid epilator does not grip the flexible hair gently. This results in high tension, which can lead to hair breakage in certain hair types. However, the hair does not break off above the skin, but just below it. This can cause skin irritation. These in turn make it more difficult for the hair to return to the surface of the skin. Ingrown hairs are the result. In this case, your skin will appear uneven and blotchy.
This can lead to itching, which in turn encourages scratching. If you are familiar with one of the scenarios described, we recommend the following. Do not perform any depilation with your home appliance for three weeks before your depilation appointment. To get the best results, you should perform one or two really effective peelings against ingrown hairs beforehand with our all-natural Peel Silk, which is specially produced in Turkey. For the greatest possible effect, we recommend that you use this effective peeling against ingrown hairs (hair under the skin) no less than 7 days before your depilation appointment. Please do not use any moisturizing or oily bath products, shower gels or body lotions 24 hours before your depilation appointment. For optimum results, we recommend that you stop depilating at least 3 weeks before your depilation appointment from spring to fall. This also applies if you experience rapid hair growth. If your hair growth is rather slow or you decide to have your hair removed with the sugar gel from “Grandma’s Sugar” during the winter, we recommend that you let your hair grow for a full 4 weeks until your appointment. It is indeed possible to remove hair with a length of 5 millimeters with the sugar gel. However, each hair follows its own rhythm.
This means that if the intervals are too short, there may be hairs that have not yet made it to the surface of the skin. The affected areas are located below the surface of the skin and are unfortunately still untouchable for us. Please make sure that you carry out one or two really effective peelings against ingrown hairs beforehand with our purely natural Peel Silk, which is specially produced in Turkey. The last peeling of this type should be carried out no less than 7 days before your depilation appointment so that you can achieve the greatest possible effect for yourself. What to consider after the hair removal appointment with sugar gel for the various hair removal methods

Immediately after your depilation at our salon, we will care for you with high-quality products from Dermalogica. Especially in the summertime, we attach great importance to ensuring that your freshly depilated skin is fully protected even on the short journey home!

You should take the following points to heart after depilation:

  • Avoid direct sunlight on the depilated area for a full 2 days after treatment.
  • Do not use perfumed, greasy or oily care products for 1 to 2 days. If you still use an alcohol-based deodorant, it won’t harm you, but it may sting your skin unpleasantly. Remember that deodorants contain alcohol and other active ingredients that can trigger reactions.
  • Do not exercise immediately after treatment to avoid skin rashes.
  • No visit to an iodine bath.
  • Chlorinated water can promote rashes. There is no rule and it depends on the skin type.
  • If you are taking anabolic steroids, depilation can lead to skin rashes.
  • Avoid heavy sweating and friction on the depilated areas for 24 hours and also wear loose clothing (preferably cotton)

Things to know about skin reactions after hair removal

If you develop a skin rash within 3 days of the treatment despite following our tips, this is an initial reaction to the root hair removal. In this rare case, we are happy to provide you with advice and assistance to help your skin recover as quickly as possible. Experience has shown that a rash usually only occurs in the chest and stomach or back and shoulders of men.

With a regular depilation interval of 4 to 5 weeks, such skin reactions will no longer occur after the 3rd treatment at the latest. If a skin reaction occurs within approx. 7 to 10 days (spring to fall) or within approx. 10 to 14 days (fall to spring), this is because your body hair is growing back. Some people experience a slight itching sensation on the skin during this process, as the hair usually finds it difficult to make its way to the surface of the skin. This is because her hair has already become finer as a result of the first root depilation. In addition, the pores of her skin are slightly keratinized, contain deposits and could contract somewhat due to the “missing” placeholders (her hair). Get all the tips you need to put an end to ingrown hairs under “Against ingrown hairs”.
