Sugaring: Gentle hair removal with sugar

Sugaring is a gentle method of hair removal that has been practiced since ancient times. Even Cleopatra is said to have sworn by it! In recent years, sugaring has also become popular in Europe, particularly as a less painful alternative to waxing.

Which parts of the body can be depilated with sugaring?

Sugaring can be applied to almost all areas of the body. At our studio, you can have hair removed in the following areas of the body using sugaring:

  • Face, e.g. on the upper lip and eyebrows
  • Armpits
  • Poor
  • Legs
  • Bikini line

Sugaring is available as a partial hair removal or full body treatment. The latter also makes sugaring attractive for men, who can use this method to get rid of annoying hair on their back or chest.

How is the sugaring paste made?

Sugaring uses a sugar-based paste, which is where the name of this method comes from. Sugaring is a vegan and above all natural method of hair removal. The sugaring paste consists of three ingredients:

  • Sugar
  • Lemon juice
  • Water

It is prepared with constant stirring. The sugar mixture must be heated and cooled several times until a honey-colored gel is formed.

We use our in-house sugaring recipe, the sugar gel “Grandma’s Sugar”. During the treatment, it is only slightly warmed and applied to your skin.

How does a sugaring treatment work?

Sugaring is similar to waxing. The heated sugar gel is applied to the skin both with and against the direction of hair growth. We work individually adapted to the hair so that the treatment is carried out as gently as possible. The hair is then pulled off with jerky movements in the direction of growth. This removes even the finest hairs thoroughly without irritating the skin unnecessarily. The advantage of sugaring is that the sugar gel only adheres to the hair and not to the skin. Sugaring treatment causes no skin irritation and significantly less pain than other hair removal methods.

The sugar gel is also applied at body temperature during sugaring. This means you don’t have to worry about sugaring being uncomfortable or burning your skin.

How long does a sugaring treatment take?

How long the sugaring treatment lasts depends largely on which area of the body is being depilated. Intimate hair removal, for example, can be carried out in just 15-30 minutes.

Our customers appreciate the fact that we proceed very quickly and efficiently when sugaring. This means that the pain is over quickly and you can enjoy the result sooner.

How long do the results last after sugaring?

The results of a sugaring treatment last for about four to six weeks. After sugaring, you no longer need to shave or trim your hair. The hair grows back significantly less and softer after the treatment and is therefore more comfortable than after shaving.

If you want to come to us for a follow-up treatment, the hair should be a few millimeters long. For the best result, you should therefore let your hair grow a little.

Gentle and effective: advantages of sugaring

Sugaring is perceived by many as less painful than waxing, for example. In contrast to shaving, sugaring offers more permanent results. A professional sugaring treatment lasts between four and six weeks, depending on hair growth.

Sugaring: Particularly suitable for sensitive skin

Sugaring is a gentle method of hair removal. If you have sensitive skin and have difficulties with conventional hair removal methods, sugaring can be a good alternative.

There is also no risk of burns with sugaring, as the gel is only heated to room temperature. Thanks to the 100% natural ingredients, there are no allergic reactions.

Waxing and shaving vs. sugaring

Compared to waxing or shaving, sugaring does not cause hair breakage or ingrown hairs – especially with the right aftercare. This is also due to the fact that sugaring involves applying the sugar paste against the direction of hair growth, but removing it in the direction of hair growth. What’s more, the sugaring paste is so gentle that it can hardly break the hair. Sugaring is also perfect for sensitive areas of the body such as the genital area.

After sugaring, the skin feels soft and velvety. In addition to the hair, dead skin cells are also removed during a sugaring treatment. Sugaring acts like a gentle peeling and gives you smooth skin. As a rule, sugaring does not cause skin irritation as with other hair removal methods.

After several sugaring treatments, your hair growth may also change. The hair then usually grows back less and weaker. However, this is different for every hair type.

It is possible to carry out sugaring at home. However, it is important to be trained in the sugaring technique, as the right hand technique for gentle hair removal is not easy. We therefore recommend that you have it applied in a beauty salon.

Who is sugaring suitable for?

Sugaring is a method of hair removal that is gentle on the skin. In principle, it is suitable for all skin types and can even be used on very sensitive skin. Thanks to our in-house, vegan sugar gel with 100% natural ingredients, there are no irritations or allergic reactions.

When should you avoid sugaring?

You should be careful with the following skin issues when sugaring:

  • Scars
  • Sunburn
  • Skin diseases such as shingles

Sugaring can be a suitable method of hair removal for chronic skin conditions such as neurodermatitis and psoriasis. We recommend that you consult a doctor before treatment. Sugaring may not be suitable for you during an active flare-up. You should also avoid sugaring if you have open wounds or injuries.
